Tonight we opened the solemn feast of Christmas with what the Church calls First Vespers, or Evening Prayer. How wonderful to sing the joyful melodies of major psalm tones. How wonderful to use them to recall the marvelous gift the Father has given to us in giving us Jesus! A blessed Christmas to you all. Know our thoughts and prayers are with you tonight especially!
One of the first things we do is to bless our Christmas Tree. Click on the photo and see our ceremony. Many blessings. More to follow. I'm new at this so you might have to click a few different things!
Did you know that for years we celebrated the feast day of St. Jane de Chantal on December 12th .... that is until the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe was raised to a universal feast day. Here is the history behind the "wandering" feast day of our Holy Foundress.
Our Lady has many titles. Today we honor her under the title Our Lady of Guadalupe. Did you know that she is Patroness of the Americas? Yes, let us ask our Mother to place her mantel of love over all the countries in this hemisphere especially. For she herself said, "Am I not here a loving Mother?" She cares for each of us and desires to lead us to Jesus! Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us! See video below.
On December 6th, Sr. Joan Bernadette and Sr. Judith Clare gave our monthly Sacred Heart Talks. This month the topics were centered around Mercy in honor of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The talks are available in PDF format in the "Archived Sacred Heart Talks" section found to the left.
Pope Francis called for the Year of Mercy—a special period, also know as a Holy Year or Jubilee Year, for the Catholic Church. Beginning December 8, 2015, the Holy Year of Mercy, will focus on studying and reflecting on mercy, receiving mercy, and being merciful towards others.
