...When we remember that it was not really necessary that the heart of Christ be pierced (for He was already dead), we see again that final reminder from heaven that God’s ways are not our ways and that all of our human attempts to put ourselves in control must ultimately bow before God’s higher wisdom. Still, there will continue a fight to the finish to see who wins the human heart: God or man....

A friend sent me an e-mail with this greeting, "Happy VaLENTine's Day." How appropriate too, knowing that today marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. How clever. It is so easy to take words and days for granted. Who would have thought that the word LENT was hidden in the midst of Valentine's greeting? How appropriate to find Lent in the midst of that word, for it is from the Heart of Love that we recall Jesus total gift of Himself for us. He became Man for our sake and His greatest desire was to bring all of us to the Father through the obedience and self-gift of His life for the salvation of all peoples.

Today we celebrate the Feast of St Francis de Sales! Let us follow in his footsteps and Live +Jesus!

Jesus, You take care of this...being weak humans who have an innate propensity to do our own thing, it is often hard to let go—even of our problems—to the Lord. But Jesus responds, "I wait for you. I want to listen to the cares and preoccupations that you carry like a heavy burden. Give them all to Me. Trust in Me and I will act. I have told you this before: for me nothing is insignificant."

Facing our Fears....We just can't do it alone! Yes, it is only through the trusting embrace of the cross of Christ that we come to understand what true peace is and this doesn’t guarantee the elimination of all fear, but it does give us a supernatural entry into God’s heart.

This Sacred Heart Talk was given on November 5, 2017 and offers suggestions on how to recognize God's presence in our lives from the beauty around us and the events that find their way into our daily lives. Our Faith tells us that God has always broken through this darkness by sending us messages and messengers of light. In other words, God has, as it were, written love letters from his Sacred Heart, calling us back to Himself when we were in the midst of chaos.

Our Holy Founder, St. Francis de Sales, would say that we are remiss if we Sisters of the Visitation do not wish all a Happy Feast Day! It was he, after all, that reminded us that "Becoming a Saint" is for you and me. All are called to holiness. To be holy means to love God with your whole heart, your whole strength, and your whole mind! Doing the little things that you are called upon to do each day is striving to be holy! Let us remember to pray for each other, so that, like St. Francis de Sales, all that we do will bring us closer to the Lord. Let us all LIVE + JESUS! While liturgically we must celebrate the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, behind the scenes our dear St. John Paull II is celebrating his feast day! We would like to share with a reflection he gave on the Sacred Heart. He spent three summers reflecting upon the Litany of the Sacred Heart in his weekly Angelus address and the following is from his reflection on July 9, 1989: "'Heart of Jesus, substantially united to the Word of God, have mercy on us.'

On October 16th, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Margaret Mary. Join us in preparation for this wonderful feast as we begin a novena in her honor on October 7th.

Dear Friends, this is just a reminder that there are no Sacred Heart talks this month due to the Fourth of July weekend. Next month, the talks have been moved to August 13th due to other events at the monastery during the first weekend of the month.
